A big thank you to our panel for sharing their knowledge and experiences and the participants for very interesting discussion. Vasilena Vassilev showed examples of passive design featuring natural materials such as green walls with self-regulating systems to maximise sustainability and comfort. Alireza Moghayedi emphasised understanding the human needs for optimal construction solutions. He discussed challenges and advantages of 3D printed houses. Saeeduddin Ahmed emphasised how SDGs could serve as benchmarks for resilient housing policy, planning and implementation, giving the example of Fortis house. In conclusion the panel reflected on the need for a ‘hybrid’ model for design and construction of resilient houses that consider new technologies (such as 3D printing) in association with the human factor and local, natural and recycled materials.
